Could Tom Cruise be Captain Pike?

I hope not. The latest Star Trek casting rumour was that J.J. Abrams wants Tom to play Captain Kirk's predecessor in a cameo as Captain Christopher Pike. Pike's appearence would be central to the Spock-centric storyline that Abrams appears to be following with the casting of both Zachary Quinto AND Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock. He's most certainly out for an A-List actor for the cameo as Spock's original C.O. and I guess time will tell if it's Cruise.

A Cruise spokesman was quick to deny the rumors, which already seemed unlikely due to the public feud between Cruise and Sumner Redstone but in recent months the Viacom honcho who ousted Cruise, has softened his rhetoric, leaving the door open for reconciliation. A cameo in Trek, however, would be a favor to Abrams and not to Paramount.

That said: Star Trek didn't succeed on being the most famous Television show in the world by casting real aliens :P

I'm surprised that you're not aiming for the Captain's Chair yourself, Lt.Col, btw, how long more is the temporary reduction in rank going to last?

I don't know if Cruise can act enough out of his own "Cruise Character" to be Pike. With the possible exception of the post delta radiation explosion one where he sits in his chair and presses the flashing Yes/No light.

I'm with Kastle, I think Cruise should get the role if only to see him horribly disfigured. They should invent a new method of disfigurement though.....maybe rip his testicles out by inserting a coal prongs down his throat, past his lungs, through his intestines and into his scrotum....imagine the look on his face, hilarious!!

NO! The last thing we need in Star Trek is the insane taint of L Ron Hubbard being channeled through that git. No I say!

@ Civvy: There'll be a promotion board review in May next year at the earliest.
As for the chair: my acting ability is reserved only for Mr. Vaughan, a Director from Macroom. In my latest role for him, I play an Incompetent Football Referee alongside Micheal Liebman and Dave Duffy so I doubt there'll be any Star Trek appearances unless either I do a sequel to Star Trek: Time Rogue and reprise my role as Admiral Creedon or if Star Trek XI fails and Paramount give it to Vaughan, the likelihood of wither scenario is not impossible but highly improbable so the Captain's chair is out.

@ Doug: Well he proved he was able to do something along the lines of real acting in Collateral. However I don't think his current perception by the public would help Star Trek.

@ Cubaboy: Better than this no doubt?

@ Grunt: You're right. No to Cruise in Trek!

Actually The film can't be downloaded as it and my last film (Also featuring the Colonel) are being shown on RTE later in the year!

By the way Creedon that picture is really disturbing, your other digital work has been near flawless but this one...maybe the headline should read "Star Trek fan wears scientoligists face to convention..fun had by all."

I don't think my other digital work could be described as flawless, the only other examples of it coming to mind are The Joker's original mock-up and Matt Damon as Kirk...
