Batty Old Biddy Shot Dead - Part 3 in my "Shoot First, Ask Questions Never" series!

Narcotics officers in Atlanta were justified in returning fire on a 92-year-old woman they shot to death as they tried to serve a warrant at her house. Neighbours and relatives (most-likely drug-pushers) said it was a case of mistaken identity. But police said the woman, identified as Kathryn Johnston, was the only resident in the house at the time and had lived there for about 17 years.

Assistant Chief Alan Dreher said the officers had a legal search warrant and announced themselves but a shootout erupted when they were refused entry and broke down the front door. He said they were looking for a man who sold drugs to undercover agents at her home earlier that day and were justified in shooting as they were fired upon.

- Left: Kathryn Johnston in happier times before the righteous kill.

As the plainclothes officers approached the house, a woman inside started shooting with an old rusty pistol (apparently in perfect working order), striking each of them, said Officer Joe Cobb. One was hit in the arm, another in a thigh and the third in a shoulder. The officers were taken to a hospital for treatment, and all three were thankfully conscious and alert.

Sarah Dozier, the woman's niece, said that there were never any drugs at the house. "My aunt was in good health. I'm sure she panicked when they kicked that door down," Dozier said. "There was no reason they had to go in there and shoot her down like a dog."

I disagree.

Creedon how the fuck is shooting a 92 year old a "righteous kill2

That's simple. Anyone who defies the government in such a manner as to shoot at federal agents automatically forfeits their right to life.

It would make no difference what age she is. If she was so old as not to know the difference between the "clients" who went to her house for the drugs or such agents then she should have been institutionalised, not home alone and armed.

Tuesday's New York Times reported on another drug raid gone awry. Kathryn Johnston thought criminals were breaking into her home—so she retrieved a handgun and shot at the people who were at her front door. As it turns out, the men at the door were cops on a drug raid. The officers were wounded, but they returned fire and killed Ms. Johnston. According to the Times report, the cops involved may have lied to get the search warrant and may have lied about the shooting afterward. These incidents are far more common than most people believe, as this interactive raidmap shows. Former Cato scholar Radley Balko also reported on this trend in a recent oped for the Wall Street Journal.

Which proves that the New York Times is a piece of shit. What? Did they claim the three cops shot themselves?? And what judge in this day and age wouldn't issue a search warrant for a home owned by an Afro-American in a high-crime neighbourhood?

Paladinsword, what you should have asked the Lt.Col, is how could he be so lenient when it came to the niece shooting her mouth off, there was no reason they had to go in there and shoot her down like a dog."

I mean, all he did was disagee.

In the old days, he would have had her arrested and sentenanced for six to ten in a federal pen for disturbing the peace at least.

Lt.Col, care to explain this shocking swing to the left, Johnny Liberal?

Gone soft since the trial, if you ask me.

Sounds to me like the Colonel needs some refresher training ... as per page 4 of this file.
Technically he shouldn't do this as he's not an NCO, but hey ... :)

@ Overseer: That's true, but I think it's best to be somewhat cautious in my opinion until I get my eagles back. That said, I do think that there should now be 24-hour surveillence in the area. It is a high-crime predoninantly Afro-American district.

@ Anonymous: I've shortened your annoyingly long post to the original link you posted. There's no need to post a link and the post at the same time, the link will suffice thank you.

That said: The article linked is a load of rubbish and I stopped reading it after the writer quoted the woman's age as 88 not 92. Four years is a big fuckin' mistake - ask any 4-and-a-half-year old kid. Sounds like some bleeding heart liberal woman playing the race card wrote that trying to get a name for herself. Stupid bitch!

@ Sithy: Still think I'd make a good Marine Corps Equal Opportunity Advisor?

I have to say that I'm with Sithy on this one, Lt.Col, you'd make an excellent Marine Corps Equal Opportunity Advisor. You hate everyone equally.

lets hope the Colonel is never relying on African-American troops after this story of his. Its likely that he may be the one left behind when he comes out with stuff like that?

its all a ploy to conceal his Gay Jungle Fever

@ Civvy: "You hate everyone equally.". You need hate to kill, hate to take a life and hate of yourself for not finding a quieter way to do it when the alarms go off and the guard dogs come running and the searchlights catch you in their bea... Oh no wait; that's Splinter Cell not my life- hang on I don't hate everyone! I like Ann Coulter.

@ Sithy: My African-American troops are sick shit of being treated differently and getting special treatment because of the politically correct enviornment and equality policies which practically go out of their way to labelling them as being different by drawing their attention to the fact that they're equal. They want someone who's not afraid to actually order them to wash if I think they need to or verbally abuse and insult them (without obviously using terms like "Boy" or "Nigger" - even I have a line in the sand) without fear of having them bring it to the attention of my superiors. It's all good clean fun- and makes them stronger in character and better Marines.

@ Anonymous: You better stay anonymous you coward.
