God turns to Broadway?

George Lucas is planning to lend his directorial talents to a Broadway musical with the help of comedienne Whoopi Goldberg, according to reports. Goldberg, who has made a number of appearances on the New York stage, is talking to God's motion picture and visual effects company Industrial Light and Magic about a collaboration on musical Bricktop - Queen of the Night, reports the New York Daily News.

The musical centres around a fabled Parisian cabaret owner Ada 'Bricktop' Smith. A source tells the newspaper, "They're talking about playing with Cubist images and jazz from the (1920's)," adding that Lucas "could do things Broadway has never seen before".

I agree, I've only ever been to one such Broadway show; "The Producers" in 2004 and it was a magnificent experience. Mere mortals such as us cannot even begin to fathom what God himself could bring to such a stage...

Don't no if I like this, Lucas's strength has always been the special effects, the characters are really secondary to him. Does he know that Broadway shows are performed in realtime in front of a live studio audience. Kinda cuts down on the use of the old Green Screen. Still, if it involved an on stage execution of Jar Jar Binks, I'm sure it would be a sell out show that would run and run.

That should have be "know" instead of "no", I need to sleep instead of checking out this blog, Damn you Lt.Col

How the mighty have fallen! Get your sleep while you can!

Connie, now you're making me blush. ;)

Yesterday some girl called me Connie and I was all "who?" Took her three more tries with the "Connie" name for it to sink in that she meant me! I'm sad to report that it actually put me in mind of you, Overseer. She was extremely excited to find someone to talk to about Dr. Who. So of course we had to have that conversation, which put me in mind of more of you people, and it turned out to be a very weird afternoon indeed.

The proper, approved shortening of my name is "Con." Which of course means you'll never use it :)

And I wouldn't necessarily say that the characters are secondary to Lucas. He uses various folk motifs to good result. For example, Luke is clearly "Boy who grows up as orphan, finds out he is special, battles evil." Just like Harry Potter. Harry Potter is also "Boy who grows up as orphan, finds out he is special, battles evil." J. K. Rowling just used the motif differently.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that it's been nice knowing you all. I've got to go on the lam now as I'm sure that the Colonel has just realized I've compared Luke Skywalker to Harry Potter...

Connie, sorry I do prefer Connie, it has a old time lady like quality to it as opposed to Con which is a guy's name over here. You can call me Civvy, all my best mates do.

Thank you for proving my point!, Lucas makes far too much use, albeit, great use, of "cliches". The same goes for Ms. Rowling.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that it's been nice knowing you all.

You make it sound like We're never going to hear from you again. Don't do it, you're a young lady, you've got your whole life ahead of you, I'll even call you by the manish diminutive of CON THE DESTROYER

P.S. The Dr. Who season 4, 2 part finale is going to be cracking. ;)

Well, I suppose I'm not surprised to hear that Con is a guy's name. Makes sense given all your Connors. And it's nice to know I'm finally allowed to call you that which I have been calling you lo these many days. ;)

Wait a minute... you don't know the phrase "on the lam?" It means on the run, el fugitivo, traveling to escape custody. Like Bruce Banner? Is this phrase too 1930's pulp fiction?

Anyway, all I'm saying is that once he wakes up and reads how I have lain waste to one of God's creation by comparing him to (of all things) Harry Potter, I think I'll be in trouble, no matter how right I am :)

Destroyer? You're not far wrong there... Personally, I always joke about the "Wrath of Con," but no one except me thinks its funny.

Oooh! Have you already seen the Dr. Who finale? What happened to Donna? No! Don't tell me! She's okay, right? Grr! I have to wait to find out, don't I? Dang it! Which reminds me that I haven't heard anyone express their opinion of Donna. Hmm.

As I recall you referred to me as Mighty, anything else, I banish from my hearing by covering my ears and chanting the magic words, LA,LA,LA,LA

Wait a minute... you don't know the phrase "on the lam?"

People, are constantly surprised about how innocent and uninformed I am.

It means on the run, el fugitivo, traveling to escape custody.

Thats the Lt.Col's influence
I was banned for life from the Star Trek Society because of him.

Is there a reward?

Seriously, there are only so many stories/motifs going around, true originality is being good at disguising your sources. ;)

the "Wrath of Con,", Pretty Good, We do have a mythological hero called "Conn of the Hundred Battles" or "Conn the Hundred Killer", I can't remember which, I think the province of Connaught is named after him. Prehaps you're a descendant of his. ;)

Donna rocks. Which makes what happens to her all the more tragic. I'm not saying any more then that. ;)

Speaking of Dr.Who, does anyone else think that the Lt.Col would make a good Time Lord?, We've had "The Doctor", "The Master", is it time for the "The Colonel"?.

Reward? You mean like a bounty? Mmmm... I'm gonna say probably not.

And there is only one way I could support the Colonel for Time Lord. I can't have people going off and having adventures (and Sidecars) without me!

So you'd be up for the role of "The Colonel's" companion?. I'd rather be a villain. Of course the Lt.Col would have to be a renegade Timelord ;)

Ooh! You'd make a great villain! Maybe that would be more fun. I don't care, as long I as I get to travel through Space and Time, I'm good. Personally, I'd rather cut through the red tape and just get a tardis of my own.

"Ooh! You'd make a great villain!"

Thanks, I majored in "Dastardly Studies" in college, Ask the lt.Col about the time I arranged to have him kidnapped by my minions and tied to a chair. True Story.

"Personally, I'd rather cut through the red tape and just get a tardis of my own."

If you wanted to be a Timelord you should have picked a suitable name, it's got to work with a "The" in front. The Connie or The Constance just doesn't cut it, so no TARDIS for you!

Pity as Connie Who? does have a nice ring to it.

I do have a "The"! I have a great "The"! But Noah Wyle stole it! You know I have a "The!"

Sigh!..., The Connie, someday you must tell me how noah Wylie stole your "The". In the mean time I'm grieving after seeing the penultimate Dr. Who.
