For the next movie based on Tom Clancy's work; director John Singleton, instead of choosing another Jack Ryan story, plans to make Without Remorse, which features the CIA operative John Clark (aka John Kelly).
Clark known to many as the commander of team Rainbow in the Rainbow Six video game series and novels has been played twice on the big screen; once by Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and more recently by Leiv Schreiber in The Sum Of All Fears, both times however playing second fiddle to the character of Jack Ryan.
Without Remorse however focuses on Clark and takes him back to his early days as a Navy S.E.A.L., called on by Admiral Greer to undertake a dangerous rescue mission in Vietnam. A previous film version was started back in 1995 but didn't make it past the pre-production stage.
Singleton (2 Fast 2 Furious, Shaft) says he is a fan of the style director Philip Noyce gave Patriot Games and Clear And Present Danger. He hopes to make Remorse match the feel of those earlier Clancy thrillers. There's no word yet on who, if anyone, he has in mind for the film's key roles.

Ah yes Clear And Present Danger Colonel. Does that ring any bells? Doesn't Clark leave men behind?
John Singleton!!!!!!I'm expecting a soundtrack from Isacc Hayes and Clark to be played by that man of action ICE CUBE!!!!
@ Master Guns: Yes but he went back for them as he thought they were alive. I didn't go back for you because I thought you were dead, there's a difference.
@ Vaughan: Oh God, you're right! This senario could happen! Singleton is trying to resurrect Blaxploitation isn't he?
No, Cutter leaves men behind. Clark is 100% pure, all american badass.
