The Colonel Resigns

It all has to come to an end at some point doesn't it? There was no one catalyst, no one force that pushed me to do this, it's just time. My only regret is that I'll have to go before I get my eagles back.

Yes it's true, from tomorrow (Monday) morning I will no longer be Lieutenant Colonel "Whopper" Creedon, USMC. Special Operations Commander for the United Nations Extra Terrestrial Invasion Defence Agency, I'll just be "Whopper" to you and Mr. Creedon to anyone who I don't know or who's not yet comfortable using my handle.

I have be weighing this decision for a long time but they're a lot of things in the world today I'm not happy with. No good strong candidate for the GOP in the 2008 election which will most likely secure a democratic president, the whole Haditha case will paint Marines as triggerhappy bloodthirsty psychopaths and if that doesn't then the investigation into the expulsion of the MarSOC "Fox" Company from Afghanistan will. I'm even obviously upset that Frank Castle is becoming Captain America and with the season finale of Battlestar Galactica- the list goes on.

I've questioned my loyalty and resolve to continue now and I've decided on early retirement. I've mailed my resignation to Air Commodore Davenport and Lt.Gen. Bob Blackman and hung my uniforms up to rot in a wardrobe but I'd say they'll fetch a good price on eBay one I have the time to post them up there.

This blog will continue in some form or another. A redesign is in order I think. Is everyone happy with blue? I just don't know anymore...

What a minute, April 1st?, please don't tell me that the realisation of my hope and dreams is just a sick, twisted joke from the fevered brain of the Whopper?!

Lt.Col, Who'd did you say that you mailed your resignation to?, "Air Commodore Davenport" and "Lt.Gen. Bob Blackman".

Isn't Air Commodore a Royal Air Force rank and Lt.General a U.S. army rank?

Luckly for you Lt.Col that I picked up on this silly mistake on your part and contacted the two officers in question and got them to forward on your resignation to the Secetary of the Navy, Donald C.Winter.

Also didn't you try and pull this dumb trick last year?

Lieutenant General Creedon said...

@ Everyone: Don't feel bad my friends. Many fell for this old trick.

@ Civvy: Air Commodore is an RAF rank indeed, held by one Geoffrey Davenport III of Manchester, the current UNETIDA commander. The RAF is a component of the military forces of the UK. The UK is a member of the United Nations. UNETIDA has military members from many countries represented on the UN Security council and civilian members from all members of the UN. If I was really resigning my position with UNETIDA I would be sending this man my resignation.

Lieutenant General is a rank of hundreds of armed forces worldwide. In the US Army, Air Force and Marine Corps it is represented by 3 Silver Stars, it ranks above Major General and below General. The Commander of Marine Corps Forces in Europe is Lt.Gen. Robert R. Blackman Jr., the man whom I would send my letter of resignation to (If I was a general officer I'd resign to the Secretary).

Oh and if General Conway was posting here he'd say Marine Corps. I would have believed it was him otherwise.

No not the same trick, just a different version. Actually it was someone else's trick, I just posted about it- this wonderful gag this year was all my own work. I'm disappointed you fell for it... ...I expected more.

"I'm disappointed you fell for it... ...I expected more."

Exactly, you far to intimidated by my massive intellect to every let your guard down, so I decided to lull you into a false sense of security. Also I'm not afriad of telling you about my nefarious plans as "these are not the droids you are looking for..."

"I decided to lull you into a false sense of security."

A pathetic attempt to cover yourself for your lack of wits. Most unimpressive.

I've noticed your increase in frequency of the term "impressive" and how "not impressed" or "unimpressed" you are, honestly you're like the reverse Darth Vader.
Did someone explain this new word to you?, if so who?, so that I can congratulate them on achieving the near impossible, getting something new into that jarhead.

One wonders what the addition of this word in one side of his brain displaced out of the opposite ear...
