When free speech should be silenced.

I was reading this during the week and I'm disgusted that the First Amendment covers this sick filth.

Marines have fought and died to defend this and other principles, for what: so the Klan can have it's say? On a sacred battleground where this level of thinking was defeated and on the very spot no less where President Abraham Lincoln himself invoked the principles of human equality during his most famous address.

Had I been there, I doubt it would have been such a 'peaceful' demonstration.

I'd have had their lil gathering prohibited on the grounds that the US Supreme Court has recognized that the government may prohibit some speech that may cause a breach of the peace or cause violence.

I question the Parks service decision to have given them the permit. An implementation of the 1st amendment giving more weight to the possibility of a breach of peace would surely have been acceptable?
Certainly to non-Klan members?!

There has to be some way of having them classed as terrorists and send them to the GITMO holiday camp.

The problem (to me at least), is that that freedom of speech entails a certain amount of responsibility. You don't walk into your local nursey/kindergarden and proclaim your right to free speech by shouting "Bollocks Shit Bastard" all day. It is offensive and inappropriate.
What these guys are doing/have done is hold meetings that are noxious and abhorrent to most of us. Whilst I respect their right to hold these views, there are certain forums where it is inherently inappropriate (at best) to express these views as it may provoke violent reaction (you can go on and argue about how people should rise above it, but hey, if we all did that...). It isn't always the loonies who are the problem, violence can occur when others disagree strongly enough.
To me it seems the Park Service should have searched a little harder for a reason to say no. Maybe they tried, and were bleated to about the first amendment?

@ Prime: How can you say free-speech is curtailed when pillowheads can hold public meetings in the 21st century?

I've got no problem with people expressing free speech, but it should be reserved for people who don't disagree with government policy.

I could solve the problem, they could all die by 'act of god'.
Thats how a roundhouse kick to the face is classified.

Funny, I always thought that and I'm sure you'll all agree, "an act of Chuck Norris" rated higher then a mere act of God. Insurance Companies threaten wet their collective pants when they hear the man is in the same hemisphere.

Perhaps it could be arranged for The Colonel and Chuck to go on a mission together.

The Colonel would naturally leave Chuck behind.

It will be the last thing the Colonel ever does :)

Guns, that is an intriguing prosposition!, pitting the Colonel's legendary tendency to desert the men under his command in the face of uncertain death against completely underwhelming odds just to get yet another medal versus Chuck Norris awesome ability at getting even. I paid taxpayer's money to see that!

Delta Force III: Send In The Marines to be followed shortly by the expansion pack, leave'em there, collect shiney medal?"

It makes me sick to think that he's earned all those medals from the sweat and blood of the dead and forgotten men under his command.
