  1. I think we'll all remember Uncle Ian, he had such a memorable part in all our lives. I remember the time Uncle Edward said that thing and then the Ewok said the other thing....how we laughed!!!
God bless you Uncle Simon, wherever you are and may the force be with you.

  3. I'm surprised colonel you forgot to mention the film "the Bedford Incident"where he played the first officer to a crazed navy captain (richard widmark) who triggers world war three...I mean surely you would have at least seen this film .....in fact what are your top three crazed naval commander movies....I suspect Crimson tide is no 1....anyway farewell uncle owen may you always have a glass of that really disgusting blue juice you seemed to drink with you.

  4. No that's like a mid-60's film so not enough blood, pyrotechnics or slo-mo for the Colonel.
I know that film though, no way was Brown the XO- that was "Uncle Jack" from Search and Rescue- remember that TV show about The Alpha Team that used trained animals?

  5. I heard Sith Apologist uses trained animals to scurry up his hole, did they have those kind of animals on Search & Rescue???

  7. I'm sorry gentlemen, only movies containing blood, pyrotechnics or slo-mo may be discussed here. To answer the question: In addition to the sublime Crimson Tide, I can only think of the wonderful Commander Krill (Gary Busey) in Under Siege.

  8. I'd be hard pressed to list 'Crazed Naval Commander' films myself. Crazed Movie Colonel's now is a different story. Name 10!

  9. Well, I've been pestering the Colonel to name (on the podcast), his top 10 fictional Colonels, and why he'd like to work with them. Its a pretty good bet that none of them are 100% mentally stable.

  10. I wonder if he'll include himself?

  11. You might say he meets the lack of sanity criteria :)

  13. The Fifth Missile, it also starred Sam Waterston of Law & Order whom I met in person filming an episode outside NYC City Hall when I visited it in 2004.

    In no particular order:
Col. Jessop "A Few Good Men"
    Col. Kurtz "Apocalypse Now"
Lt.Col. Nicholson "The Bridge on the River Kwai"
    Col. Curtis "Dreamcatcher"
    Col. Winter "The Last Castle"
    Lt.Col. Kilgore "Apocalypse Now"
    Col. Stryker “X-Men 2”
    Col. Lydecker "Dark Angel"
Lt.Col. McKnight "Black Hawk Down" (he was real)
    Colonel O'Hara "Jag"(Season2 Ep1)

  15. Evil but not exactly crazed. I think he was intense certainly (naked kata) but didn't exhibit more insanity then the 10 on the list. Maybe he's #11?
